Prince William marries Kate Middleton

London: Prince William married his long term friend Kate Middleton at the iconic Westminster Abbey on Friday.

William, in a red tunic of an Irish Guards colonel, and Kate, looking stunning in an Alexander McQueen creation, exchanged vows and rings in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, at the altar.

There were 50 foreign royals among the 1900 guests at Westminster Abbey.

Queen Elizabeth II attended her grandson’s wedding in an egg yolk coloured dress.

Kate’s brother James Middleton read the lesson and congratulated the duo.

Thousands gathered outside the Westminster Abbey to greet the newly-wed couple.

Around 5,000 police officers were on duty on Friday and looked after the security of this high profile marriage ceremony.

The royal couple will later appear on Buckingham Palace balcony on Friday.

After the marriage, the partying will commence with around 650 people being invited for a luncheon with the Queen, and later in the night, 300 close friends and family are supposed to attend a black-tie evening bash.

William and Kate will be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
