Group on track for charity

When it comes to fundraising to charity, the Mata Amritanandamayi Satsang Group Inc of Auckland is second to none.

The group recently hosted a housie/bingo night at the Glen Eden RSA to raise more almost $4000 for the victims of the Christchurch earthquake,

The Bingo fundraiser was a great fun night, fundraising committee member Varima Narula said.

“There were 20 games played and one special game. A raffle for a jewellery box donated by the Sona Sansar was also run on the night, Varima told the Indian Weekender.

“Everyone enjoyed the games and we collected $500 for Christchurch. Then two people donated their winnings and our collection came to $580.

“The Glen Eden RSA joined hands in this fundraiser and provided the venue for free. They also ran the games for the night and donated the tickets and dabbers that were sold that day.

“In appreciation for their support we presented the president of the Glen Eden RSA with a bouquet of flowers and a Thank you card before he handed the money collected on the day,” Varima said.

“We have also been making Lunch Packs for last three weeks to raise money for Christchurch. These were delivered on the Mondays to the offices of our group members. We collected $2020 from that.”

“Our members all made personal donations as well from which we collected $1872.

All the money collected thus far will be donated to Red Cross for Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
