Auckland has experienced another deluge overnight, with more widespread flooding reported.
With the rain came the wind. Auckland Emergency Management saidtrees came down with some falling on homes.
Evacuations took place in suburbs such as Mount Roskill where floodwaters reached dangerous heights.
Sections of motorways across the city were closed for some time because they were inundated with water and could not be passed.
