NZICA President wishes community a joyous 2023

Since we are nearing the end of 2022, and the year has been a roller coaster ride for many of us. This is also the time to reflect on the year gone by and wish for a better year ahead.
Keeping the festive spirit in mind, Narendra Bhana, President of New Zealand Central Indian Association Inc (NZCIA), extends his Christmas and a joyful, hope-filled New Year. It was in April 2022 that Bhana was elected as the president of NZCIA. For the uninitiated, NZCIA was formed in 1926 as an umbrella organisation for regional Indian community groups throughout Aotearoa.
He says, “This is a very special time of the year as it gives people a break from the hustle and bustle of our everyday working schedules. It gives many of us time to enjoy the company of family and friends that is often missing for the rest of the year. I urge everyone to reflect on these special moments and savour the relationships we have tried so hard to cultivate over the years. I sincerely hope this festive season is perfect for everyone and that the New Year brings good health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone's lives.”
Bhana defines this year as one of the most exciting years for him. He explains, "This year has been one of the most exciting for me. Being elected as the President of NZICA means a lot to my family
and me."
It has been a very challenging time for New Zealand, especially regarding the increasing crime cases and deteriorating law and order situation. Reflecting on the same, Bhana says, “There has been some sadness with the loss of young Janak Patel, and also to see our hard-working business community go through so much pain and anxiety just to earn a day-to-day living.”
On a parting note, Bhana acknowledged the work done by the team of NZICA in keeping the Indian community together. He says, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to my team of Officers for the tremendous effort they put in daily to make sure that the organisation achieves its objectives. Their hard work, commitment, and dedication are greatly appreciated. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our valued Life Members, Executive Committee members, officers of NZICA affiliated branches, and all volunteers for their invaluable support over the last few months.”
