Dairy worker loses two fingers in Hamilton aggravated robbery

A dairy worker in Frankton, Hamilton, has been hospitalised today after he lost two fingers trying to defend himself against robbers carrying a machete.
According to the dairy owner, Puneet Singh, the attack happened early morning today after the employee opened the dairy. Four individuals reportedly entered and brutally attacked the employee with a large blade.
The dairy has the fog cannon installed, but the employee didn't get a chance to set it off or hit the panic button.
The robbers also hit a neighbour who heard screaming and came to help. Puneet says, "The floor was covered with blood and tobacco products worth around $20,000 were stolen. My employee was crying and in pain as he lost his thumb and index finger."
Singh says, Police took more than 30 minutes to come.
Police say they are investigating and following up on the aggravated robbery.
