After their shooting schedule in Wellington – where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan flew in with friends from India to wish husband Abhishek a happy 35th birthday – the cast and crew of Players moved to Auckland for the rest of the shoot in New Zealand.
The shoots were done at several places in Auckland and Kiwi Indians who chanced upon the whereabouts of the stars visited the shooting hotspots to get a glimpse of the goings on.
In this scene – of the movie, Abhishek is seen with Omi Vaidya of 3 idiots fame.
Indian Weekender was reliably informed that about 30 children of Indian origin from the Mount Roskill area participated in the scene where Abhishek inaugurates a school building, Sonam Kapoor cuts the ribbon and lets the kids in who run into the campus. The shooting was held at Massey university campus Albany.
Indian Weekender also caught Abhishek and the crew in a ‘drive by shoot’ on Wairau Road on the North Shore where a bored Abhishek sat around in the sweltering heat under a parasol, waiting for his own action to begin.
