Celebrating the music of legendary KK

Fans of late singer KK have a reason to rejoice. That's because Auckland will soon witness a music night paying tribute to the legendary singer.

Regarded as one of the best and most versatile singers in India, KK sang songs such as Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil Se, Dola Re Dola, Khuda Jaane, Pal and Yaaron. He passed away due to a suspected heart attack at age 53 after a concert on May 31, 2022.

A music band named 729TheBand is organising a live music event - Rock-On – A tribute to KK night- next month, where the band, along with other musicians, will pay a special homage to KK. The event is dedicated to KK’s love for rock music and paying tribute to his contribution to live Indian Rock music.

The seven-member band comprises Avelin Chetty [Sound, DJ], Avi Pranish [Lead Guitar], Kunal Krishneel [Keyboards], Ishan Bhatt [Keyboards], Joscel Alexander [Drums], Nikhil Singh [Bass], Prince Rajput [Guitar, back-up vocals] and Kush Joshi [Vocals]. It was formed by friends to play the music they grew up with and new Bollywood rock music. They wanted to give the audience the flair and energy that rock music creates.

Revealing more details about the same, Prince Rajput, the band manager and the owner of Prince Entertainment Group Ltd (PEG), says, “We want to pay our respects and tribute to the late KK. He was well known for his love for rock music and for performing high-energy shows where the audience was very much part of the band (singing along and dancing to the music). We, as 729TheBand, are big fans of the late KK's music and have been inspired by his live shows. Therefore, this show is dedicated to his memory and ethos of live performances.

Indian Weekender is the media partner for the event.

Interestingly, in addition to the 729TheBand members, known singers Rachit Bhatia and Vijendra Rane will also be performing KK’s songs like Alvida, Tu Hi Meri Shaab Hab Hai and Zara Sa, among others.

“We want everyone to have fun and celebrate the legend that was KK together at this event. With our song selection and shows, we want it to be meaningful to our audience – whether it's nostalgic or highly energetic, we want them to be involved," says Rajput.

The live performance will be followed by DJ Aby, who will open the dance floor and DJAV to keep the night going.

Talking about the ticket sale, Rajput says, “We had a great response on our early bird tickets and VIP tables. General tickets are selling fast too. We expect the show to be sold out at least a week before the gig. If you are a KK fan, you can't miss this one. Grab your tickets, which are available at Eventbrite, if you haven’t already.”

KK die-hard fans across Auckland are already waiting to attend the event.

Ramya Sharma, one of the residents of Panmure, says, "I enjoyed listening to KK's legendary songs. I just loved his voice. Though we have lost him, this show will allow me to relive and enjoy his songs. I am eagerly waiting for the show."

The winners and participants of IWK's Mr & Ms Auckland Diwali 2022 will also be VIP guests at this event.
