Atif Aslam wins top award

Auckland: The Atif Aslam Desert Fusion concert has won Best Asian Concert award in the Masala Awards 2010.
The ceremony was held at Atlantis The Palm, Dubai, on December 17, and was attended by the who’s who of the world of music. It is commendable that Atif won the award against such frontline nominees as:
• An Evening with Boman Irani
• Dazzle Dubai New Year’s party featuring Shaan and Vasundhara Das
• Eid-E-Milan featuring Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shaan and Aadesh Shrivastav
• Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal concert
• Sunidhi Chauhan concert
Six concerts, including Atif's Desert Fusion concert were nominated
An obviously elated Atif Aslam responded: “Congratulations to my band mates as well Sameer, Asad, Mobeen and Sarmad’s. Congrats Aadeez! Thanks to everyone who voted & made it possible”.
Aadeez is the name given to millions of Atif Aslam fans around the world.
After rocking Doha, Dubai, Lahore, Karachi, Los Angeles, Oakland, New York, Wambley, Kenya, Delhi, Goa, Singapore with over 200 sold out shows Atif has become somewhat of one of the greatest singing sensations.
His biggest fans are the thousands of girls who line up outside his shows and he melts their hearts every time he delivers one of the many sufi-rock-hungama tracks “Aadat, Woh Lamhe, Tere Liye, Baakhuda Tumhe ho, Juda Hoke Bhi, Teree Bin, Ore Piya..” from his Bollywood hit films such as Race, Prince, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Mel Karade Radda, Zeher, Kalyug. On his live shows Atif sings in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and English and his band albums are a must have item with over 11million copies sold worldwide.
Atif Aslam recently updated his official website and Facebook page confirming his arrival in Auckland on the 21st of January and this will be the biggest desi concert ever in NZ. Atif & his band are performing at the ASB showground Logan Campbell Centre, Greenlane, Auckland.
The promoter UthEC has the local artist and fans jumping with joy. Omar says “we are very delighted to have such a megastar downunder and do the first show ever in Australasia in Auckland ... so far over 1000 people have confirmed attendance on our Facebook page and over 1500 tickets have been out, we are proud to do this show as the profits from the show go to OXFAM NZ charity to help the flood victims in the subcontinent”.
Indeed this show will be a sell out. With VIP seating section, dance floor and reserved seating it is essential that the fans get in early to grab a good seat.
