Covid 19 Delta outbreak: 173 cases as virus spreads across North Island

There are 173 new community cases of Covid-19 reported today.
Of these, 163 are in Auckland, seven in Waikato, two in Northland, and one Lakes DHB.
A new case in Wairarapa and in Taupo are being announced today, but because they came after the cut-off time, they will officially be added to case numbers tomorrow.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern this morning said that it was not unexpected that Covid-19 cases were now being seen outside of Auckland, but said that most cases could be linked back to the city.
