Key Pointers of the INZ webinar for One off residence visa

A webinar hosted this morning by Immigration New Zealand with regard to the recently-announced One-off 2021 Resident Visa. Following are some of the key pointers for One-off 2021 Resident Visa:

1.    The applicant needs to meet eligibility requirements as on 29 September 2021 and when he/she submits his/her residence and not while the application is under process. However, he/she should maintain a lawful status.

2.    For the Settled criteria, neither the type of visa the applicant held when they first arrived in New Zealand matters nor the type(s) of visa(s) he/she held between 29 September 2018 and 29 September 2021 matters.

3.    For the Skilled criteria, an applicant is unlikely to meet the criteria if there are no hours stipulated in his/her casual employment contract,

4.    For the Scarce criteria, there will be no requirement for applicants to meet ANZSCO nor LTSSL suitably qualified requirements. However, if a role requires registration, registration evidence is required.

5.    The application form is not going public prior to 1st December 2021. The form has been made and is currently being tested. Moreover, the forms for Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be different.

6.    The order and manner in which applications will be processed is being worked out.

7.    Employer Supplementary Form will not be needed for applicants under "Skilled" or "Scarce" category.

8.    INZ has communicated with the Ministry of Health and panel physicians will be available for those in Auckland and the Waikato to get their medicals.

9.    3 INZ offices will be processing the 2021 Resident Visas. There will still be INZ staff who will keep processing SMC and RFW applications.

10. If an applicant has already applied, but then leaves New Zealand, INZ cannot approve the application until the applicant is back in New Zealand.
