Covid-19 update: 100 new community cases reported in New Zealand today

There have been 100 new Covid-19 cases in the community reported today - 97 in Auckland and three in Waikato.

The Ministry said 48 of today's new community cases are still to be linked.

Yesterday 126 new cases were reported including 18 in the Waikato and one in Northland.

There were also 10 cases in managed isolation.

There have now been 3733 cases in the current outbreak and 6471 since the pandemic began.

Two of the new Waikato cases are from Hamilton and one is from Ôtorohanga. Two are known contacts and were already in isolation. All of yesterday's 18 cases have now been linked.

The Ministry said there are 58 Covid-19 positive cases in hospital, including three in intensive care.

The ministry said 15 residents and four staff members of Edmonton Meadows Care Home in Henderson have now returned positive tests - three are receiving appropriate ward-level care at North Shore Hospital.
