Hamilton Mayor calls for more transparency in decision on alert levels

Hamilton Mayor Paula Southgate says people in her city want more transparency in decision on alert levels.

She says people are getting frustrated because they feel there's a lack on information available.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told Morning Report Covid-19 modelling shows cases may peak as high as 200 a day, ahead of today's alert level decision.

Cabinet meets today to decide whether to move Auckland and parts of Waikato out of alert level 3, step 1.

Ardern said that decision won't be made until the latest information is available this afternoon.

Southgate said she hopes the region will drop down to level 2, but only if it can be done safely.
