Otorohanga District Mayor Max Baxter says a person who visited Kawhia, on Waikato's west coast, has tested positive for Covid-19.
Baxter said in a post on social media that a testing station will be set up at Maketu Marae for three days from 11am until 3pm today.
He said the woman, who tested positive on Tuesday, had been in the town for a couple of months and had since travelled to the Auckland region where she is from. The woman's boyfriend was with her in Kawhia and is a close contact.
It is the second Covid-19 case for the coastal town, after a case on 6 October.
