Breaking News: Level 4 Lockdown being 'actively considered' for Auckland - Bloomfield

Dr Ashley Bloomfield says a Level 4 "circuit breaker" for Auckland is being "actively considered" to try and break the growing number of Covid-19 Delta cases.
On Breakfast on Monday, Dr Rawiri Jansen and Professor Rod Jackson said the city was in need of a "Level 3+" as Covid-19 community cases continue to grow.
Later on Breakfast, the Director-General of Health acknowledged he'd heard the same advice from other experts.
"That's something that has been proposed, not just by Dr Jansen but by others. It's something we've actively considered and importantly I've asked for advice from my team, but also from the public health teams on the ground in Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) and that's informed our advice to the Prime Minister.
"Cabinet will be considering that this afternoon and the Prime Minister will be making announcements later in the day."
However, Bloomfield couldn't be drawn on what his advice around a circuit breaker might be when pressed on Monday morning.
"I'm not going to pre-empt what my advice is because they (Cabinet) haven't had a chance to consider it and it's their role to make decisions and then make the announcements so I won't go into any more detail on that just now."
