Despite having spent a full week under a level 4 lockdown, New Zealanders have been warned to expect yet another jump in the number of new Covid-19 cases today.
The numbers have been steadily ticking up, increasing 41 yesterday to reach 148.
Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said it was positive that the outbreak had not grown exponentially.
He said the modelling suggested there will be further increases at least today and tomorrow.
It's hoped the effects of the lockdown restrictions will start to show in the numbers by Saturday.
