Mata Ki Chowki next week in Auckland

Auckland based Shri Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan of New Zealand Inc is organising a devotional evening, Mata ki Chowki on October 3 at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Mt Eden in aid of its temple project.

It is an evening where everyone joins together and sings melodious bhajans and praises of Goddess Durga Mata.

Following the success of Chak de Dandiya in July, the Sansthan hopes to receive the support of the community once again. Entry to the event is free. Maha prasadam will be served after the chowki. All donations collected from this devotional evening will be used for the temple project. For more details, contact Shivani (09) 624 0577.

Significance of Mata Chowki

The Goddess Durga symbolises the power of the supreme being that maintains moral order and righteousness in the universe. According to tradition, when the existence of the universe was under a threat by Mahishasura (the demon), the Gods pleaded Shiva to protect their world from the evil forces.

Lord Shiva then asked the three goddesses, Saraswati, Maa Kali and Maa Lakshami to release their powers that emerged a beautiful and ferocious goddess, known to us as Durga.
