What: UTSAV “THE INDIAN MELA”

A grand celebration of Indiasn independence will take place in Avondale, Auckland, this Saturday.
The West Auckland Indian Community invites all to support and experience “Utsav” Celebrating Indian Independence.
The premier celebration of cultural diversity and an opportunity for not only ethnic groups but all New Zealanders, to take part in a celebration of our Indian Independence day along with the multicultural community of Auckland.
Festival organizer Yasmin Sait said the celebration was bound to have something for everyone.
“Coming to this festival you are immediately aware of the aromas of spice and mouthwatering Indian delicacies, a collective celebration of colourful costumes, the people, arts and crafts, Henna tattoos, maybe some free makeovers too.
“Traders selling fabrics, jewellery, crafts. An opportunity to mingle with people from all over the world, participate in the performances to win fabulous gifts.
“Food Courts will have a variety of treats from all over the world. Cooking demos Food tasting. Lots of giveaways for the children and live performances all day long.
“Come join the vibrant Indian cultural performances and Bollywood mix. A great family event with activities and food to entice adults and children.”
Yasmin said kids too would find lots to do, face painting, magic shows and bouncy castles and lots of giveaways.
“Our aim is to create a high visibility event which caters to the community and local businesses to celebrate the diverse culture in Auckland City. There will be no admission fee therefore attracting a huge turnout.
“Looking forward to your support and participation to make this community event a grand success.”
