Police were called at an incident on May Road in Mt Roskill earlier this morning and found a woman with critical injuries.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the woman could not be saved and passed away.
“Emergency services were called to the address at 7:36 a.m. and upon their arrival found a woman with critical injuries,” Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said.
Police has since launched a homicide enquiry into the incident and arrested a man who is assisting the police with their enquiries.
“Police have begun a scene examination and expect to be there for some time,” Detective Armstrong added.
