Waitakere Indian Association celebrates a decade of service

Waitakere Indian Association celebrated its 10th birthday at their Annual General Meeting held at the Council Chambers –Waitakere City Council on Saturday May 8, 2010.

The AGM was attended by the CEO and Deputy Mayor of Waitakere City Council together with MP’s from the Labour and National party.

The  outgoing president Mr Manoj Tahal reflected on some of the highlights and achievements of WIA since its inception that include:
Well established  Hindi school with over 60 students, an active youth and sports group, a strong senior citizens group, very popular WIA Diwali and Holi Mela events, leadership building and succession planning and liaison with local Maori and other ethnic groups.

The returning President Mr Anand Naidu JP thanked Manoj and the outgoing members for their sterling effort in promoting WIA and taking the association to greater heights.

The following members were elected as the new Executive Committee for Waitakere Indian Association for 2010.

Mr Naidu welcomed the new members to the executive committee and spoke about the associations desire to establish a Community Centre in the West.
