Recently, the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Charitable Trust organised a well attended seminar in Papatoetoe. Mr. Megh Raj Mitter President of the Rationalist Society of Punjab was the Chief Guest.
Mitter touched upon the topic of the irrational magical remedies various astrologers have been promising the gullible Indian population in Auckland. The gist of his talk was that we should look for God within ourselves and within mankind itself. John from Rational Society New Zealand also participated in this seminar.
During this programme a book by well known Punjabi journalist of Tribune, Late Dalbir Singh was also released. Avtar Singh from Pukekohe had put up a stall to sell Punjabi books, which are normally not available in New Zealand.
A short play titled “I am Bhagat Singh” was also played on Video. Patriotic songs were sung by different presenters during the proceedings. The programme ended with a free dinner.
