"Please make sure you vote, voting turnout is very low" Howick candidate Sharon Stewart

Sharon Stewart, QSM, loves serving her community over the years she has been involved in many things that have made a difference to so many people.  

The Howick Ward takes in Howick/Pakuranga/Botany/Ormiston suburbs. Having lived most of her life in Howick, and due to commitment to public service, Sharon has been awarded Howick Citizen of the Year and received a Queens Service Medal QSM in 1998 for the public service.  

Howick’s (Howick, Pakuranga, Botany, Flatbush, Ormiston, Huntington Park, Burswood) welfare and future are supreme importance to Sharon; she continues to faithfully demonstrate her commitment concerning issues such as the views from Stockade Hill and Crawford reserve. 

  • Flooding and stormwater are high on her list of things that need to be improved.
  • Heritage protection and the wellbeing of senior citizens and our young people. 
  • The Playgrounds being upgraded with shade cloth for our little people. 
  • Supporting our local businesses. 
  • Sharon wants to push for better and effective public transport. 

Howick in the Park later known as the Military Tattoo and Strongman event was a popular annual event initiated by her. Sharon’s been working alongside Roxanne the wife of the late Dick Quax/ Councillor/Olympian organizing a memorial along the Rotary Walkway. 

She works hard to make things happen that are in the best interest of the community and will continue to push for the upgrading of local sporting grounds like William Green, Lloyd Elsmore and Barry Curtis Park. 

Sharon is Patron of the Howick Tennis Club, Fencible Football Club, Howick Croquet Club and supporter of Pakuranga Rugby Club and a member of the Howick RSA and Howick Club.
