Family fun day at Auckland Tamil Association

Every now and then community organisations conduct activities and events that bring community members under one roof for a get-together and have fun-filled family time.
The Auckland Tamil Association made such an effort on Saturday, July 20 at Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall called ‘Family Fun Day 2019’ where hundred of families turned up to start their weekend.
The activities included colour mixing workshop, knitting workshops for children, clay craft workshop, fireless cooking class, photography workshop, healthy lifestyle seminar, Zumba dance and face painting.
“Such events bring different families and the children together, and the children attending different workshops get to learn a lot not just from the trainers but also from one another,” Vai Ravindran, president of the Auckland Tamil Association said.
“Events like these involve the children and their parents in different learning activities, which is amazing to see. At the event, we could witness how children explored their creative minds applying their skills and talents in painting, learning to dance, making clay art, knitting, etc.,” Mr Ravindran added.
The participation of the families in learning new skills and seeing everybody’s involvement in different activities is something that was the purpose of the event, which was accomplished.
Auckland Tamil Association is also bringing music troupe from India for a live concert on Saturday, August 3 at Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall. Kalaimamani Shree Veeramani Raju Troupe will perform several devotional songs at the event. A special Ayappan Pooja will also be conducted in conjunction with Priest Chandu at the concert. The event is supported by Shri Balaji Temple in Hamilton.
