World retailers meet in Fiji

Suva: Retailers from around the world will be meeting in Fiji today to discuss issues concerning their trade.

The retailer’s executive meeting which takes place every two years is being organized in Fiji for the first time.

Representatives from 12 different countries will be taking part in the day-long meeting.

India Chamber of Commerce and Industry representative Atul Dalakoti said the meeting will give them an opportunity to discuss problems and share ideas.

“We will be discussing all the matters concerning the retail business all over Asia and how they are inter-connected and we share thoughts of what problems are faced by retailers all over the country in a closed format and in the same meeting we discuss ways of moving forward.”

Mr Dalakoti who is visiting Fiji for the first time said the Pacific Island nation has a lot of potential for investment.

He said there is no doubt visiting businessmen will find Fiji an attractive place to invest in.

“It will create opportunity for all this countries to come to Fiji and have understanding of what is happening in Fiji. What are the opportunities in Fiji not only in the field of retail but also tourism which is very closely related to retail. I personally also see a lot of potential in Agriculture sector as well.”
