NZ Women’s Kabbadi team off to India for tourney

Touch sport Kabaddi has gained immense popularity in New Zealand with more number of youngsters signing up to learn the game.

The NZ Women’s Kabaddi team has geared up for the upcoming WaWo Women’s League competition to be held in Rajasthan, India from 18 November to 9 December.

“The final preparation has been completed for the NZ Women’s Kabaddi Team selected to travel to India to partake in the WAWO Women’s League Competition,” NZ Kabaddi shared on social media.

The team is headed by Tara Singh Bains as the President, Kimmi Hassan as Team Manager, and ten players who have been practising hard for the last few months to win the title.

The ten players from the NZ Women’s Kabaddi team for the India tour are Leanne Gardiner, Jeyla Ropati, Sally Kao Kao, Gloria Suddens, Missy Elliot, Corey Roberts, Conal Grant, Emmeline Croft, Joanne Suemalo and Kath Wharton as coach and player for the team.

The team’s first match will be held in Jaipur on Sunday, November 18 against Pemal Warriors. A total of 45 matches will be played in Jaipur, Ajmer, Khatu Shyam Stadium and finals to be held on December 9.

The six other teams competing for the title in the league are Jhansi Rani Champions, Panna Dai Defenders, Karnavati Challengers, Pemal Warriors, Padmavati Royals and Hadi Rani Paltan.

“The players have been working very hard for the league and we are confident they will giving a very tough competition to the other teams at the league,” President of NZ Kabaddi Women’s team, Tara Singh Bains said.

“Thank you to all who have contributed in getting the team travel and game ready,” NZ Kabaddi posted on social media.
