Diwali - the festival of lights finally brings light in Labour's camp, Jacinda to become next PM

The suspense and anxiety over who will form the next government is over with Winston Peters finally "choosing" to illuminate the Labour-Green camp to make way for Jacinda Ardern to become the second youngest Prime Minister of the country. 

Probably, there could not have been a better day than today, Thursday, October 19, when the festival of lights - Diwali is being celebrated in different part of the world. 

The festival symbolises victory of light over the dark. 

In New Zealand's politics, the uncertainty of the last 26 days since election night on September 23 can be safely termed as relatively dark in comparison to the certainty of having a government, howsoever uncertain, as a beacon of light. 

The Indian Weekender team extends their heartiest congratulations to the team-Jacinda and hope that the new government would do best to unite all people of New Zeland who have seen one of the most divisive and fiercely contested elections.
