Enchanting forms of the formless

Internationally renowned Wellington based dancer/choreographer Vivek Kinra and Mudra Dance Company present a vibrant dance extravaganza at the Body Festival in Christchurch in October 2012. Called ‘Satvika’, he dynamic dance work of is a kaleidoscope of motion, colour, music, mime and rhythm, comprising a wide range of dances.
It showcases Kinra’s choreography which combines traditional and innovative elements of the dance. The narratives of these dances are based on the universal philosophies of life.
Satvika, traditionally, depicts exotic stories of the romances and battles of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Through the battles and romances of Hindu gods and goddesses, the darkness is dispersed and a righteous mode of living is conveyed.
Characterized by exotic beauty and charm, Mudra DanceCompany is a visual feast of brilliant sari colours, traditional headdresses of braids and flowers, and the sparkle of gorgeous jewellery. They are delighted to be joined by Christchurch based Anuradha Ambalavanar and the senior members of her Bharatanatyam Group of Christchurch.
