Bhavna Chahal, Mrs India NZ 2014, talks about her love, life and passion

1. What made you choose to participate in this pageant?

I had been wanting to explore something new and different since a long time. When I heard about Mrs India New Zealand being organised for the very first time, it felt the perfect opportunity.

2. What is the significance behind the title Mrs India NZ?

For me this title signifies another facet of a married woman. It is a platform for all the married ladies to take time out for themselves and showcase their inner woman.

3. The single best thing that has happened so far?

Getting married to the love of my life is the best thing that has happened to me and everything else in my life is an extension of that happiness.

4. The single most difficult challenge you have faced so far?

Leaving my parents back home in India when I moved to NZ was the hardest thing I have ever done.

?5. The most important lesson learned?

To be proud of my culture and my heritage. You need to respect yourself for others to do the same!

6. Who has been the biggest influence of your life?

I know it'll sound very cliché but my husband JD has been the biggest influence of my life. Whatever I have achieved so far is due to his support.

7. Who is your role model?

My maternal grandmother and my dad are my two role models - she is the definition of the word calm and he represents strength.

8. Your favourite actress/ model?

I don't have a favourite actress, but I am a diehard fan of SRK.

9. What do you plan to do next?

I run a Robert Harris franchise with my hubby. It is a new project and we want it fully settled before we think of anything new.

10. Tell us about that one dream that you want to be real.

I want to visit world’s top 10 National Parks, starting with Banff National Park, Canada.
