Irrfan Khan gets candid about the romance genre and playing romantic
roles in movies.
Irrfan Khan is busy promoting his upcoming romantic movie Qarib Qarib Singlle.
The actor will be working with Malayalam actress Parvathy. This is Parvathy's first Bollywood movie. The trailer is quite refreshing and lovely. Well, it's quite rare
that we see Irrfan in a romantic role.
In an interview with a leading tabloid, the Piku actor talked about exploring the romantic genre. He said, "People have the capacity to watch romantic films. It (romance) is no one's property, nobody has patented it. Everybody is allowed to do their own version of romance and there is an audience to watch it if it is engaging enough. I would love to see Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor coming up with more romantic films, they are good at it."
The Hindi Medium actor said that he never looks at a role as a romantic one. He stated, "I never approach a role as a romantic hero, all I know is I wanted to do a love story. To do a love story you don't need to behave like a romantic hero, you will fall in love when you are into the character, and you should be able to communicate or share your feelings through cinema. If you follow certain mannerisms or style (to look like a romantic hero) it will become generic. You have to explore romance".
The actor said that he got a chance to show his romantic side in films such as The Lunchbox, Hindi Medium and a few others. About his last hit Hindi Medium, Khan said, "In case of Hindi Medium, I wanted that besides the admission issue there should be a layer of love, a romance between husband and wife. I think some issue-based films tend to become boring. So there is a need to have the second layer in the story".
When asked if he is a romantic person in real life, the Life of Pie actor said, "I am a romantic person and it is the most beautiful gift from God, the feeling what you have in love and when it's reciprocated that's the most wonderful thing. I want to share that (love stories) with the audience through different films".
Qarib Qarib Singlle, directed by Tanuja Chandra is a romantic tale and it is slated to release on November 10.
