Hema Malini honoured in Russia for her contribution to Indian cinema

Hema Malini was honoured at the 4th Indian Film Festival of Russia for her contribution to Indian cinema. The actress shared her joy on Twitter as she was welcomed by Russian fans who wish to see her in the sequel to her popular film Seeta Aur Geeta.
Yesteryear actress and the Dream Girl of Indian cinema, Hema Malini has enjoyed tremendous success throughout her film career. Her movies were loved all over the world and that made Hema a name to reckon with. To honour her contribution to Indian cinema, the actress is being honoured in Moscow, Russia by India’s Ambassador to Russia, Pankaj Saran at the 4th Indian Film Festival of Russia.
The actress shared pictures on her Twitter handle of her visit to the country. She was especially overjoyed to see the response of the Russian public who love her for her work in Ramesh Sippy’s Seeta Aur Geeta (1972). Almost 45 years since the release of that film, the Russians still want to see the sequel of the film, but only if it stars Hema Malini in the lead role. Her popular Hindi song performances were recreated on the stage and were met with a huge applause.
She was last seen in Gul Bahar Singh’s 2017 film Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi. The film also featured late actor Vinod Khanna in his last appearance.
Hema Malini pursues an active career in politics. The actress was elected as the Member of Parliament from Mathura during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Along with Hema Malini, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is also being honoured at the film festival for his contribution to Indian cinema. Bhandarkar’s last film Indu Sarkar, starring Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher and Tota Roy Chowdhury released in July 2017.
