Genelia D'souza to endorse Rasna
Actor Genelia D’souza has been appointed brand ambassador of Fruit Fun range of Rasna Pvt Ltd, a leading manufacturer of concentrates and instant powder. The actor will be featured in all communication and promotional campaigns of the brand. A new commercial has been shot with Genelia, which has been directed by ace ad film-maker Prahlad Kakkar and is slated to go on air from March.
Genelia will be seen in the advertisement with six-year-old Avan Khambatta. Rasna’s Chairman and Managing Director and Ayan's father Piruz Khambatta said, “Genelia’s charisma resonates perfectly with our brand’s full of life attribute. Youth relate with her girl next door image which will help us to reach the young generation in a fun and effectual way.
"She is the perfect choice for being a face for Rasna. We are confident to create a rage around the same in the market when the vibrant actress and endearing Avan will come together taking a cool Rasna sip. I am proud to welcome Genelia in the Rasna family and Avan for her first commercial feature.” In the past, Rasna has roped in celebrities like Karisma Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal and Kapil Dev.
John Abraham's movie on LTTE rebels
Tinsel town’s macho stud John Abraham is all set to feature in an off-beat political thriller about Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels in Sri Lanka. Titled ‘Jaffna’, the flick will be directed by Shoojit Sircar and at the same time, John will himself co-produce the film. Jaffna or the City of Jaffna happens to be the capital city of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.
Interestingly, ‘Vicky Donor’, an upcoming film that apparently deals with the concept of sperm donation and infertility, too has been directed by Sircar and produced by John. Jaffna will be the duo’s second movie together. If the buzz is to be believed then John is likely to visit Sri Lanka in order to understand the sensitive subject properly.
Shoojit’s debut film ‘Yahaan’ too was a love story set against the backdrop of the insurgence in Kashmir. Though the film which featured Jimmy Shergill, Minissha Lamba and Yashpal Sharma failed to do big business, but it was appreciated by critics for being warm and sensitive. Reportedly, John will be seen promoting Vicky Donor shortly before its release. He is likely to talk about the issue of sperm donation as a part of the promotion campaign.
SaReGaMa hunts for Next Gen artists
SaReGaMa’s Icons Nxt has collaborated with crowdsourcing platform Talenthouse to source the next generation ‘music icons’ and ‘pop artists’ for its reality show SaReGaMa’s Icons Nxt - Season II being aired on UTV Bindass. Talenthouse has currently launched an online ‘Creative Invite’ calling on the country’s finest and most talented young musicians.
The collaboration intends to promote mainstream artistes and revive pop music and fashion them into the next generation music Icons. Speaking on this initiative Adarsh Gupta, Business Head, Music - Sa Re Ga Ma Icon’s Nxt said “There has been a huge vacuum in the pop genre in India for many years and SaReGaMa seeks to resurrect the genre with Talenthouse. The winner will receive a 2-year contract with SaReGaMa and get a platform to showcase their talent.
Priyanka practices singing in Darjeeling
Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra took her music teacher Samantha Edwards to West Bengal's hill city Darjeeling, where she is shooting for Anurag Basu’s film Barfee. Piggy Chops said she is very much passionate about music and is very much thrilled about her international recording deal with Desi Hits and Universal Music to record her debut music album.
Priyanka is practicing singing everyday after hectic shooting schedules in Darjeeling. A unit member said that sometimes Priyanka’s co-star Ranbir Kapoor join her in the practice. Her debut music album will contain 10 pop songs that will be released globally this year.
Salman, SRK to become neighbors
It will be interesting to see if the infamous rivalry between the tinsel town’s two well-known Khans gets a new twist with Salman’s plans to shift in a house close to Shahrukh’s residence Mannat. If the buzz doing the rounds is anything to go by, then Salman has apparently bought a triplex flat worth Rs. 32 crore at Bandra Bandstand and has already paid around Rs. 1.64 crore as stamp duty on the market value of the apartment.
The reports floating all over suggest that the deal of the 9763 square feet triplex was concluded by Sallu’s father Salim Khan. Although, too much details are yet undisclosed but the 28 storied building called ‘The Address’, the builder of whose is ‘Dheeraj Reality’, is presently under construction. Khan is currently resides with his parents Salim and Salma Khan in Galaxy Apartments, which too is not very far away from the new property he has reportedly bought. The rivalry between the two dates back to Salman’s rumored ex- girlfriend Katrina Kaif’s birthday party three years ago when the two had a heated argument over each other’s reality shows that turned into an ugly brawl.
Dabangg 2 sold for Rs 50 cr?
While Bollywood hunk Salman Khan is yet to begin shooting for 'Dabangg 2', the film has already started earning money for his brother-producer Arbaaz Khan. According to latest reports, Star Networks has brought the satellite rights of the film for 11 years for a whopping Rs 50 crore. Sources said so far this is the highest amount a film got by selling its satellite rights. 'Dabanng 2' music rights has also been reportedly sold to T-Series for Rs. 10 crores. The directorial debut film of Arbaaz will star Sonakshi Sinha opposite Salman. 'Dabangg 2' is scheduled to hit the theatres around Christmas.
Shahid Kapoor turns 31
Bollywood chocolate boy actor Shahid Kapoor turned 31 on Saturday. This year Shahid will have his birthday bash at Morjim beach in Goa with his Bollywood friends and near ones. Report says that he has flown to Goa along with model-actor Nargis Fakhri few days back to make sure that everything is organized well so that he can play the perfect host for his spectacular birthday party.
Some of the expected guest to the party from tinsel town includes Tabu, Ahmed Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza, Rani Mukerji, Siddharth Anand and Kunal Kohli, to name a few. There is a rumour that like last year, his supposed close friend Priyanka Chopra is not invited this year too. Party naked,’ and also Atul Kasbekar, Indian fashion photographer who is known for his Kingfisher Calendar shoots, posted two pictures of Shahid with bikni-clad women. Shahid’s upcoming film in Bollywood is ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ with Priyanka Chopra.
