Help on way for flood victims

Help on way for flood victims
Following last week's floods which have devastated many areas of western Fiji, former residents living in New Zealand have begun a major fundraising drive to help the victims.

The floods have left at least five people dead and close to 10,000 have been displaced from their homes are sheltering in evacuation centres, Fiji Government officials said.

Auckland radio station Apna 990 has organised a campaign to raise funds to send to Fiji to help authorities there deal with the devastation.

Apna 990 general manager Shaiyaz Mohammed said the response from Aucklanders so far had been great, as people have been helping in cash and in kind.

Cash donations (receipts will be issued) can be made at:
- Food for Less supermarket, Otahuhu
- Mohammed's Halal Meats, Mt Roskill
- Indian Sweets & Video, 203 Great South Rd, Manurewa
- Apna 990 studios in Henderson.

Also, donations can be deposited into account No 02-0108-0043563-01 (Bank of New Zealand).
