Modi challenges Manmohan for Gujarat polls

Ahmedabad, Oct 8: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday dared Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to compete against him in the upcoming state Assembly elections.
The move came as an apparent attempt to boost his image as the opposition frontrunner for the Prime Minister’s seat in the 2014 General Elections.
"I dare Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to come and have competition with me,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said at a rally organised on the completion of his 11 years in office.
Taking on the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre, Modi said Gujarat could not be taken "for a ride" anymore.
