Rahat Fateh Ali Khan released from custody

New Delhi: Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who was arrested at the New Delhi airport with a large sum of money in US dollars on Sunday, has been released.
Pakistan's Interior Minister A Rahman Malik called up his country's envoy in New Delhi to follow the arrest of the famous Pakistani singer.
Khan was arrested Sunday for possessing 124,000 US dollars. He is being presented in a court here on Monday.
According to Pakistani media, Rehman Malik spoke with High Commissioner of Pakistan to New Delhi Shahid Malik on the matter and asked him to monitor the events and provide all assistance.
Khan's manager Chitresh Srivastava has also been arrested.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had arrived New Delhi from Karachi and was intercepted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials.
According to a report quoting Central Board of Excise and Customs, the DRI officers found altogether US $1,24,000, which is around Rs. 60 lakhs.
He was reportedly also carrying demand drafts and travellers cheques besides the cash.
Indian authorities said law will take its own course in the matter.
The 37-year-old Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is primarily a singer of Qawwali, a devotional music of the Sufis, but he also sings ghazals and other light music. He is the nephew of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
He was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer this year for the 'Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji' number from 'Ishqiya'.
