Rahman launches CWG theme song

Gurgaon: Music maestro A.R. Rahman on Saturday  revealed "Jiyo, Utho, Badho, Jeeto", the theme song for the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi at Kingdom of Dreams here.
 
Rahman, who won two Oscar Awards for his score in Slumdog Millionaire, has come out with a memorable song, which reflects the positivity and enthusiasm surrounding Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi.
 
Rahman performed the Theme Song live during the launch at the Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon. 

He had been working on the composition for the past six months and has dished out a masterpiece.

The maestro will also perform the song during the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi, on October 3.

“It has not been easy. Got the first lines six months ago and a lot of modifications have gone in, post that. I kept tweaking it and finally finished it last night.” added Rahman
 
Suresh Kalmadi, M.P., Chairman, Organising Committee, Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi, exhorted the city and the nation to welcome Delhi 2010 with open arms. 

Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and  Haryana Chief Minster Bhupinder Singh Hooda were also present at the theme song launch.
 
“We are just over a month to go for the Games. We defeated Hamilton and Canada in the bids. It was a dream comes true and we promise that we will host a great sporting extravaganza.” Shri Kalmadi said.

“Rahman is one of the jewels of India and he has done an excellent job with the Theme Song for the Delhi 2010. I urge people to come out, cheer the athletes and be a part of this sporting extravaganza.” Kalmadi said.
 
Sheila Dixit said: “I join everybody else in the belief that the Games which have come to India for the first time will be the most memorable Commonwealth Games ever. Delhi is India’s capital and the success of these Games will be the pride for all of us. We could not have got a better person than Mr Rahman to make us swing and play during the games.”
 
Hooda said: “Commonwealth Games will be celebrated like a festival which has begun today. We will provide our whole-hearted support to Mr Kalmadi and his team for Delhi 2010. As far as the medal tally is concerned, I wish to reassure our countrymen that Haryana will have the top position in domestic tally with our performance as we had done in the Beijing Olympics. The games are a matter of pride not only for the city of Delhi, but for Haryana and the rest of the country also.”
