Fennell 'happy' after inspecting CWG venues

New Delhi: Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) president Michael Fennell visited a few stadiums Wednesday to take a stock of the facilities and looked impressed with the venues contrary to some reports of substandard work at the Games project.
    
Fennell, who arrived here on Tuesday, started the tour with the Thyagaraj Stadium, then went straight to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Indira Gandhi Stadium and the Games Village.

He also visited the Yamuna Sports Complex, which has facilities for table tennis and archery, Delhi University's Rugby Stadium, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Complex, Talkatora Stadium, Siri Fort Stadium and R.K. Khanna Stadium to complete his day.
    
Fennell was accompanied by CGF chief executive Mike Hooper, CGOC vice-chairman and secretary general Randhir Singh.
    
On Thursday he is scheduled to meet Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Urban Development Minister S.Jaipal Reddy and hold a meeting of the Organising Committee's executive board.

"Today Mr. Fennell visited all the stadiums except the the two shooting ranges. Tomorrow he will be visiting the two ranges, will address the executive board of the organising committee and will also have some meetings as well," Hooper said.
