Actor Vivek Oberoi shared an emotional moment with his adopted daughter, Sahara Shah, at a cancer awareness event when she revealed that she was preparing to make her acting debut in a Nepali film. The announcement surprised Oberoi and moved him to tears as he reflected on her journey from childhood cancer to pursuing her dreams.

NDTV reported on September 23, 2026, that Sahara Shah, the adopted daughter of actor Vivek Oberoi, has signed her first Nepali film as a lead actress, marking a major milestone in her journey after overcoming cancer.

Oberoi and his wife, Priyanka Alva, have two children, son Vivaan Veer Oberoi, 13, and daughter Ameyaa Nirvana Oberoi, 11. Beyond his family, the actor has also supported several children battling cancer, helping them access medical treatment and education.

Sahara Shah Thanks Vivek Oberoi for His Support

While sharing the news, Sahara expressed her gratitude to Oberoi, whom she affectionately calls her 'dada', acknowledging his role in encouraging her ambitions and supporting her throughout her life.

Sahara said, "I'm playing a lead actress in a film. It's a Nepali film. I haven't signed yet. I wanted to take your blessing. You've been a huge part of my life. I've seen you since I was a child, and I always wanted to follow in your footsteps. I'm not even halfway there. I don't think I'll be able to reach any place you are in", as quoted by NDTV.

She further spoke about how his encouragement helped her believe in possibilities that once seemed out of reach.

"You've always supported me when it came to acting, dancing, and whatever I wanted to do. That gave me so much conviction to dream big for my mum and me. We come from such a background. All of this is such a far-fetched dream. It was all possible because of you, NDTV has quoted.

"Gifting this to you feels like such a small thing because it's nothing compared to what you've done for me. It's all been possible because of you. There's so much love and affection for you. I'm so overwhelmed," as quoted by NDTV.

Sahara's heartfelt words made the occasion particularly emotional as she shared her achievement with the person who had supported her since childhood. Oberoi embraced her and unveiled the film's poster.

Oberoi struggled to hold back tears as he congratulated Sahara and reflected on the difficult period when she was undergoing cancer treatment. He recalled meeting her as a young child and witnessing her determination during chemotherapy.

"I can't tell you how happy I am. I'm crying with pride. I saw this two-and-a-half-year-old girl with red eyes and a pale face undergoing chemotherapy while fighting cancer. I saw the fight in her. The way she held my finger, I knew she would win. I used to pray for her every day. Today, she is cancer-free, and she's reaping the rewards of her hard work. I'm so proud of her", NDTV has qupted.

Now cancer-free, Sahara is preparing to explore a new career in cinema while continuing to pursue her aviation ambitions. Her announcement marked an important personal milestone and highlighted the impact of sustained support and encouragement in helping young people pursue their goals.
