Auckland's train services are facing significant disruptions with delays and cancellations due to "track and system issues," Auckland Transport announced. The disruption has prompted the suspension of several lines and the deployment of buses on certain routes.

Auckland Transport first alerted commuters via social media shortly before 1 pm about the ongoing issues. Buses have been arranged to cover some routes, and passengers are advised that buses will accept train tickets for the remainder of the afternoon due to the disruptions.

The Onehunga Line has been suspended until further notice, while the Western Line is currently not operating between Newmarket and Waitematā (Britomart) Station. The Eastern Line has been redirected to run between Manukau and The Strand instead of Manukau and Waitematā (Britomart).

During the evening peak hours, the Southern, Eastern, and Western Lines are expected to operate at a reduced frequency of 20 minutes.

To assist affected commuters, two Kiwi coach buses will run between Newmarket and Britomart, starting around 2 pm.
