A person has died after reportedly falling from rocks into the sea at Auckland’s popular west coast beach, Muriwai, on Saturday afternoon.
According to a report by 1News, emergency services were called to Ōtakamiro Point at around 1 pm following reports that a person had fallen into the water.
A search operation was launched, involving the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and emergency responders.
"The Westpac Rescue helicopter located the person deceased in the water a short time ago, and the body has been recovered," a police spokesperson said, 1News has quoted.
Authorities are now working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No further details about the deceased have been released at this stage. Investigations are ongoing.
