Outgoing HC Neeta Bhushan set for new diplomatic posting

India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, Neeta Bhushan, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Poland, following the successful completion of her tenure, the Government of India announced on 20 February 2026.

Bhushan, an Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1994 batch, is currently serving as India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand and is expected to take up her new assignment shortly.

In a related development, the Government of India had earlier announced on 19 January 2026 the appointment of Muanpuii Saiawi (IFS: 2005) as the next High Commissioner of India to New Zealand. Saiawi is presently serving as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and is also expected to assume her new role soon.

Saiawi, who hails from the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram, will succeed Bhushan, who has served as India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand since 2022.

Bhushan joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994 and has had a long diplomatic career, with postings in Japan, Bangladesh, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
