The Hindu community in Auckland is buzzing with excitement as preparations are underway for a grand celebration on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Organised by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Prana Pratishta Mahotsav Committee, the event, titled ‘Ayodhya in Eden Park’, promises an unforgettable amalgamation of religious fervour, cultural enchantment, and a touch of New Zealand magic.

Scheduled to take place at the iconic Outer Oval, Eden Park, from 1pm to 6pm, the vibrant festivities aim to pay homage to Lord Ram while transforming the cricket ground into a spectacular rendition of Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama.

The event holds special significance as it precedes the official opening of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on January 22, 2024.

The organisers are asking one and all to donate for the event and make it an event to remember for years to come.

Vinod Kumar, the driving force behind the organising committee, spoke passionately about the event and its impact. "This is one of the biggest worldwide celebrations, and a dedicated group of us came together to organise it on a grand scale. Now, with the collective efforts of temples and organisations, we're turning it into one of the largest Hindu events in New Zealand.”

He appealed for donations and said, "The costs have surpassed our initial estimates, leading us to issue a heartfelt call for a fundraising drive. We need everyone's support and donations to make this event truly memorable. Your generosity can make a significant difference. Visit our website at www.ShriRamReturns.org and donate online. Immediate receipts will be issued, and refunds are claimable as the account is under charitable status."

Another committee member of Ram Mandir Pran Prathishtha Committee NZ and part of the event’s radio partner Humm FM, Kashika Singh, emphasised the importance of community support, noting, "When India can collect up to Rs 5,500 crores in donations towards Ayodhya, we believe our community can rally together and generously support this event, turning it into a historic celebration."

Kashika concluded with a heartfelt appeal: "Let's make this a memorable day and create our own history in Auckland. A dedicated force is working day and night towards January 21, and it cannot happen without each of you reading this. Jai Shri Ram."
