New Zealand Cricket and Genesis have announced a three-year partnership spanning the grassroots game through to the BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS.
Under the deal, Genesis will become the naming rights partner of Genesis Smash Play and will also sponsor both national teams across the domestic and international season, including as back-of-shirt sponsor for the BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS.
The partnership will also see Genesis sponsor the opening Powerplay of each innings at every NZC home white-ball international for the next three seasons.
NZC CEO Geoff Allott said the agreement marked the organisation’s first major partnership with an energy company.
“This partnership breaks new ground for NZC in terms of being our first major energy partner and we couldn’t be happier to have them on board ahead of a massive home summer,” he said.
"Genesis get that cricket isn't just about the BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS - it’s about kids picking up a bat for the first time through Genesis Smash Play and ensuring the next generation get to enjoy the game we all love.”
The partnership will also include promotions for fans, with Genesis set to give away one year of power to 20 winners during the season, alongside exclusive experiences for supporters attending home matches.
Genesis Chief Revenue Officer Stephen England-Hall said the company wanted to support cricket across different levels of the game.
"At Genesis, we believe the best Kiwi summers are lived at full power.
"That's why we're proud to back Kiwi cricket at every level, from the next generation discovering the game through Genesis Smash Play to our national teams inspiring us on the world stage.
"Our ambition is to help make cricket even more fun, exciting and rewarding, creating more reasons for New Zealanders to play, support and celebrate the game throughout the summer.”
The partnership was launched at an internal event at Genesis’ Auckland office on Monday.
BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS players Fran Jonas, Nathan Smith, Adam Milne and Molly Penfold attended the event, where the new T20 playing kit for the summer was also unveiled.
Genesis supplies electricity, natural gas, LPG and broadband to more than 490,000 customers across New Zealand.
The company has also outlined plans under its Gen35 strategy to invest more than $2.2 billion in renewable generation and battery storage by FY32, while further developing Huntly Power Station and supporting customers to reduce energy costs through greater electrification.
