Dhurandhar 2 breaks records with ₹44 crore premiere collection
Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, has made a record-breaking start at the box office even before its official release. Reported by Hindustan Times.
Despite facing delays, postponements, and a few cancellations, Dhurandhar: The Revenge began its paid previews across India on Wednesday evening and received an overwhelming response.
The film has emerged as a massive success, breaking all existing records for paid previews by an Indian film and surpassing the previous Bollywood benchmark by a margin of 340%.
Dhurandhar 2 box office collection
While Dhurandhar 2 is scheduled for a worldwide release on March 19, the makers held paid previews in select theatres globally on Wednesday evening.
Riding on strong buzz, the film recorded the widest-ever paid preview release for an Indian film, with around 9,000 shows across 6,000 screens in India alone.
Despite high ticket prices, with the average exceeding ₹400, demand remained exceptionally strong, with many shows selling out days in advance.
By the afternoon of March 18, the film had collected ₹44 crore net (over ₹50 crore gross) in paid previews in India. Most of this revenue came from the Hindi version, as several dubbed preview shows were either delayed or cancelled.
Initially, the film was set to have paid previews in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam as well.
However, due to content unavailability and technical issues, Kannada and Malayalam shows were postponed to Thursday, while Tamil and Telugu screenings were delayed to 9 PM. This reportedly reduced the overall preview collections by a few crores.
Interestingly, the ₹44 crore preview collection of Dhurandhar 2 has already surpassed the opening day collection of its predecessor, which stood at ₹33 crore.
Dhurandhar 2 sets all-time premiere collection record
Despite these challenges, the film has created history by registering the highest-ever premiere collection for an Indian film.
The ₹44 crore net collection in India from paid previews is more than three times the previous Bollywood record of ₹10 crore, which was set by Stree 2 in 2024. It has also overtaken the overall Indian record, pushing OG (₹25 crore) to the second position.
This record-breaking performance has significantly raised expectations for a blockbuster opening.

The first installment of the franchise was a massive success, earning ₹1300 crore worldwide and continuing its theatrical run even three months after its December release.
