A body has been discovered in the search for a kayaker who went missing near Waiwera, north of Auckland, earlier this morning.
According to a report by 1News, Emergency services were alerted at about 7.35 am after reports that a man had fallen into the water after coming off his kayak.
A large-scale search operation was launched involving police, including the maritime unit aboard Deodar and the Police Eagle helicopter, along with Surf Lifesaving New Zealand and volunteers from Hibiscus Coastguard, 1News has reported.
Police confirmed early this afternoon that the man had been found deceased.
"Police are providing support to his family at this difficult time," as quoted by 1News.
Authorities said the death will be referred to the coroner.
