Auckland supermarket Food4Less New Lynn to shut down permanently
An Auckland supermarket has announced it will close permanently after entering liquidation.
According to a report by Stuff, owner Romit Prakash confirmed that Food4Less New Lynn would shut its doors in a social media post on Sunday.
“It has been emotional, overwhelming, and deeply humbling,” he said.
“Despite every effort, every long day, every late night, and every attempt to find a path forward, we have reached a point where closing is the responsible step,” Stuff has quoted.
Food4Less operates ethnic food supermarkets in Auckland and Hamilton. Prakash described the New Lynn store as more than just a business, calling it a dream built on sacrifice, belief and commitment.
“It was watching children grow up walking through our doors with their parents,” he said.
“It was greeting familiar faces week after week and knowing we were part of your routine and your lives.”
He expressed gratitude to customers for their loyalty, kind words and patience, saying their support during difficult times “meant more than I can ever fully express,” as quoted by Stuff.
“This chapter may be ending under circumstances we did not hope for, but I choose to leave with gratitude,” Prakash said.
“Gratitude for the community that stood with us. Gratitude for the lessons learned. Gratitude for the opportunity to have served. Food4Less may close its doors, but the memories, relationships, and respect remain,” as quoted by Stuff.
