Teen Arrested After Car Hits Pedestrians on Auckland’s Queen Street

A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged after two pedestrians were struck by a car on Auckland’s busy Queen Street early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 6am between City Road and Karangahape Road, where the vehicle reportedly mounted the footpath and hit the two individuals. According to police, the driver abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot immediately after the collision.
Emergency services responded swiftly, and both victims were taken to hospital. One person sustained serious injuries, while the other suffered minor wounds, police confirmed.
Following investigations, authorities apprehended a 17-year-old male, who has now been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and injuring with intent.
The teen is due to appear in the Auckland Youth Court on 4 August.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges as the investigation continues.
