Dr Siddharth "Sid" Ogra is an accomplished New Zealand-trained ophthalmologist who blends global surgical expertise with a warm, patient-centred approach. With subspecialties in oculoplastic surgery and cataract (lens replacement) surgery, Dr Ogra delivers precise, tailored care that enhances both vision and quality of life.

After graduating from the University of Auckland in 2010 (MBChB), Dr Ogra completed his ophthalmology training in Auckland, Rotorua, and Wellington, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) in 2020. His passion for oculoplastics (eye-lid surgery) led him to the United Kingdom, where in 2019 he undertook a dedicated fellowship in Hereford, refining advanced eyelid and tear-duct surgical techniques. He further broadened his global perspective with observerships at Stanford University’s Byers Eye Institute in the USA and the Samsung Medical Centre in South Korea, learning the latest surgical techniques for cosmetic and functional surgery.

New call-to-action

Today, Dr Ogra practises at Auckland Eye, with private consulting locations in Remuera, Takapuna, Ormiston, New Lynn, Pukekohe and Queenstown. This multi-location approach ensures patients across New Zealand have access to his specialised services. He also holds a hospital appointment at Manukau Superclinic in south Auckland.

Specialist Services

Dr Ogra’s expertise spans both functional and cosmetic procedures:

  • Oculoplastic surgery – including droopy eyelid (ptosis) correction, blepharoplasty for hooded eyelids (upper/lower eyelid surgery), Asian double eyelid surgery, eyelid cancer reconstruction, and management of other eyelid issues.

  • Tear-duct surgery – from clearing obstructions to performing tear duct bypass surgery (DCR) and stent placement for watery eyes.

  • Cataract and refractive lens surgery – offering premium multifocal lenses, needle-free anaesthesia and sedation for nervous patients.

  • Same-day procedures – such as stye removal, eyelid lump excision, and other minor procedures.

What sets Dr Ogra apart is his commitment to modern, minimally invasive techniques that prioritise comfort and fast recovery. He offers options like needle-free anaesthesia for cataract surgery, same-day bilateral lens procedures, and “no-stitches” approaches where appropriate. This focus on patient experience reduces anxiety and speeds healing without compromising surgical outcomes.

A Philosophy of Partnership

Dr Ogra believes the best outcomes come from genuine collaboration with his patients. He takes time to explain every step, ensuring people feel confident and empowered in their decisions. Whether the goal is restoring vision, relieving discomfort, or enhancing appearance, his approach blends precision surgery with compassionate care.

Global Knowledge, Local Care

Having trained in New Zealand and internationally, Dr Ogra brings a world-class perspective back home. His UK fellowship and international observerships have equipped him with diverse surgical techniques and exposure to cutting-edge innovation, all of which benefit his patients here in Aotearoa.

Outside the clinic, Dr Ogra is passionate about travel, food science, and sports, and enjoys time with his young family including a new puppy.

Why Choose Dr Sid Ogra?

With his rare combination of advanced oculoplastic and cataract expertise, international training, and a patient-first philosophy, Dr Ogra offers more than just exceptional surgical skill – he offers peace of mind.
