Bhartiya Samaj’s extended Holi celebrations for the community

Bhartiya Samaj has a tradition of celebrating the festival of Holi every year, and for everyone’s convenience in the community, celebrations are held at different locations around the town.

This year also four different celebrations were held targeting different sections of the community. The first celebration was held on Monday, March 13 at Flat Bush, South Auckland for the Senior Citizens attended by 50 members.

The celebrations started with showering colourful petals on one another and dancing to the tune of Holi Bollywood music. This was followed by few rounds of Tombola (Bingo) and prize distribution. 

On Saturday, March 18, Bhartiya Samaj in association with Humm FM organised ‘Colours in the Park HOLI 2017’ at the Three Kings Reserve in Mt Eden. The atmosphere was buzzed with music, fun and frolic for all present. The event witnessed a mix of the multicultural society of Auckland with over 5000 people attending the celebrations.

Another celebration was organised especially for elderly members of the community at the Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall on Saturday, March 18, which was attended by more than over 200 members.

On Sunday, March 5, a special celebration was organised for the children at the Bal Vikas Language & Cultural School, in Mt Roskill. The kids were given the opportunity to paintand decorate their old T-shirts for HOLI and learn the significance of the festival and later played with colours
