Manufacturing will create millions of jobs in India

IWK: Since the Make in India initiative has been launched, what has been the real outcome so far? 

NN: I am not really up-to-date on that. But there is a focus on manufacturing. The main challenge for India at the moment is job creation for millions of young people. Manufacturing, in this sense, is seen as a good place for job creation. 

IWK: Any industry industry/ business project that has come to the country under the Make in India initiative from anywhere in the world?

NN: Recently, GE set up a brand new factory in Pune – a state of the art world class project.

IWK: What is the biggest takeaway from a business summit like this?

NN: Capabilities and opportunities on both sides – India and NZ - inevitably lead to something commendable.

IWK: Which industries do you think NZ should focus on?

NN: They should focus on healthcare, telecommunications, infrastructure for smart cities, skill development, agriculture and food processing.
