An Indian woman was found dead in her home in Wellington on Thursday, April 8.

The 31-year-old woman, whose identity the Indian Weekender is choosing not to disclose yet awaiting police confirmation was a permanent resident of New Zealand and working in an energy company in the capital.

She had first arrived in New Zealand in 2013 from Punjab state of India, (Mohali) on a student visa pursuing her dream of Kiwi life.

One of the close friends who is acting as next of kin here in New Zealand and liaising with authorities told the Indian Weekender that the family back in India wants her to be sent back home.

“We are constantly working with the Indian High Commission to send her back waiting for paperwork to be completed,” the friend said.

Meanwhile, the police have responded to an enquiry from the Indian Weekender, “the death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the Coroner.”
