67 new cases detected in New Zealand, country now with 1106 total infected

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield giving the update announced 67 new cases in New Zealand bringing New Zealand's total infected to 1106. No deaths reported since Sunday, March 29. 

67 announced today includes 39 confirmed and 28 probable cases. 176 people have been recovered so far.

Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said 13 people are in hospital, and three are in ICU - two in Wellington and one in Auckland.

Just under 40,000 tests have been carried out so far. There were 3709 tests completed yesterday, the highest number of tests in one single day

Dr Bloomfield said there were now 12 significant clusters, with 72 cases now linked to the Marist College cluster. The cluster associated with a wedding in Bluff has now had 62 cases, and the Matamata cluster has 58.

He said 43 per cent of total cases are travel-related, 38 per cent had contact with a confirmed case and 2 per cent are considered community transmission. The rest are still under investigation.

Auckland Metro, Waikato and Southern are the areas with the highest number of cases under investigation.
